Data Ethics with Dr. Gurvirender Tejay

Dr. Gurvirender Tejay will present a practical framework that data professionals can use to help their companies identify and resolve current data ethics concerns.

In the era of rapid digital transformation, data professionals are entrusted with tremendous power and responsibility in harnessing the potential of data for innovation and progress. However, this power comes with a crucial ethical dilemma: striking a delicate balance between responsibility and innovation. This talk explores the development of a workable ethical framework for data professionals, enabling them to navigate the ethical complexities inherent in their roles. The session introduces the fundamental concepts of ethics and computer ethics, establishing a foundational understanding. Participants will explore the various categories of ethics, subsequently focusing on applicable and pragmatic theories tailored to their specific needs. By embracing responsibility alongside innovation, data professionals can contribute to a digital landscape that respects individual rights and promotes fairness. A key takeaway for participants is an ethical framework as a valuable tool for effectively addressing data-related dilemmas and guiding them towards prudent actions.
